About LitFin

Built to think like the region's best bankers and stand beside your team

LitFin is an AI-native credit appraisal platform, built in Tanzania. It appraises a file the way a seasoned East African banker does, because the judgement that tailored it comes from a three-decade banking career here. It stands beside your credit officers, analysts and committee as they work, explains every conclusion, and trains your people as it goes. It supports the credit decision; your institution makes it.

Our Story

Built as a mind. Tailored by a career.

Across the region a large share of MSME loan applications are declined, in Tanzania as many as 65%. Many of those declines are correct. The difficulty is that an institution cannot easily tell which were judgement and which were variance, because the reasoning behind an appraisal is rarely written down in a form anyone can retrace.

So we built the judgement itself: one mind with command of the whole credit process, able to read a file, question it, rebuild the numbers behind it, and defend a conclusion step by step.

Then we tailored it to this ground. Guided by Anderson Yohana Mlabwa's three decades in Tanzanian banking, seventeen of them running credit at one of the country's largest banks, we shaped what it asks, what it refuses to take at face value, which risks it raises unprompted, and how it explains a call to a credit committee, until it reasoned like a senior credit officer from here rather than a textbook from somewhere else.

The people behind LitFin

The claim is simple: LitFin appraises the way a senior East African banker does. Here is why that claim is true.

Generally intelligent. Locally tailored.

The mind inside LitFin was engineered as a general reasoning mind with command of the whole credit process. What makes it East African is the tailoring: the processes, the files, the committee questions, and the recovery calls of a three-decade Tanzanian banking career, distilled into how it reasons. The training is tailored the same way: the advisor who shapes what LitFin teaches is the one bank boards and senior management teams across Tanzania already hire for credit-management training. The intelligence is broad; the judgment is from here.

George Mwikila

Co-Founder and CEO

George is LitFin's technical founder. He conceived and engineered LitFin end to end: the AI mind, the appraisal reasoning, the role-play and training engines, and the platform that carries them. He holds a Bachelor of Finance from Minerva University and spent over seven years in engineering at Finimize, then returned to Tanzania to learn how things are actually done in East Africa.

He believes East Africa is about to become a far bigger powerhouse than most people expect, while the infrastructure, the research, and the technical expertise to carry that growth are still missing. Empowering the banks is the first step to empowering the whole economy, and that is what he builds from Dar es Salaam.

Co-Founder and COO

David leads our on-ground research and field operations. He is the one who sits with real users and domain experts, runs the testing that decides what actually works here, and manages the client relationships on the ground, so what we build answers the East African environment rather than an assumption about it. He also builds the knowledge layer that keeps LitFin grounded: knowledge graphs and graph-based retrieval that connect a case to everything that bears on it, so the mind reasons from the full picture.

He brings four years as Chief Operating Officer of AJM Asamba Company Limited and Associates, a mining and consulting firm, so the operating discipline he applies here is practised, not theoretical. His research on explainable machine learning, making model output legible to human decision-makers, is the same no-black-box discipline LitFin holds on every score. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Information Systems (Business Analytics) and was a featured speaker and panelist at Fintech Festival Tanzania 2025, presenting on data privacy as a structural pillar of fintech.

Anderson Yohana Mlabwa

Mentor and Angel Investor

Anderson spent 29 years at CRDB Bank Plc: eight as a credit officer, then Credit Manager, seventeen years as Director of Credit and Secretary of the Board Credit Committee, and two and a half as Director of Risk and Compliance. The way LitFin reads a credit file was tailored on that career.

His second career is training bankers themselves. Through his consultancy, AJM Associates, Anderson delivers credit-management training to the rooms where lending decisions carry the most weight: boards of directors, executive teams, and senior credit managers of commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and leasing companies across Tanzania. He also served as regional coordinator of the AfDB-funded programme de-risking agricultural finance for smallholder farmers across four African countries, and advised on the formation of the African Guarantee Fund. What he teaches those rooms is what LitFin's training engine now carries.

What We Do

The appraisal leads. Training makes it hold.

LitFin puts one appraisal standard beside your credit officers, analysts and committee, and adds the training that keeps every officer working to it.

A senior mind on every real case

Your officers and managers work each case with Mr. Mwikila beside them: he reads the file, rebuilds the numbers he will not take at face value, flags what is weak against your own policy, and explains every conclusion step by step. Nothing is a black box.

Consistency is the product

When appraisal quality varies, the cost is never one bad loan. Good borrowers are declined and weak files approved by the same variance, provisions arrive as a surprise, committee time goes on reconstructing files instead of deciding them, and the institution learns little from its own losses because the reasoning behind them was never recorded. LitFin holds one structure across every case, in the language of your own policy.

Training built in

The add-on that compounds the mind: a structured curriculum, AI role-play against lifelike borrowers and committees, and mastery scoring per person, in Swahili and English. The curriculum discipline comes from a practice that trains bank boards and senior credit teams across Tanzania; judgment sticks because it is practiced, not just delivered.

Security engineered in

Every organisation's data is isolated from every other's, encrypted in transit and at rest, and handled under Tanzania's data-protection law. Our Data Protection & Security page explains it in plain language.

Platform Vision

Not another course library. A working mind for your whole institution

LitFin puts a senior banking and finance mind beside every professional, always on, and pairs it with training that measures real competency, adapts to each learner, and connects mastery directly to business outcomes.

Evidence-Based Adaptation

We measure actual learning retention, not course completions, so each learner gets a truly personalized path that adapts to what they have genuinely mastered.

Everything a credit file touches

Credit first and deepest, then the risk, compliance, treasury, markets and investing questions the same file raises. One mind, built for institutional credit work, not generic e-learning.

Organizational Capacity Building

Lenders, regulators, development-finance institutions, and advisory firms deploy training programs with custom curricula, employee progress dashboards, and mastery-based certification.

Business Data Integration

Connect learning outcomes to real KPIs. See how officer training reduces defaults, how team training drives performance, and how skill building improves operations.

Scalable to Millions

From a single officer cohort to entire national capacity programs. Our AI-driven approach scales without proportional cost increase.

Emerging Market First

Reaches officers where they work: a mobile-first design, hands-free voice in Swahili and English, and lifelike practice that runs on the phone in their pocket.

Why institutions choose LitFin

Static platforms deliver fixed content and count who clicked through. LitFin works your real cases with you, adapts every interaction to the evidence of what each professional actually understands, and connects learning to measurable outcomes: fewer weak calls, cleaner files, stronger portfolios.

Our Values

The principles that guide us

Every decision at LitFin is guided by our commitment to inclusion, innovation, security, and local relevance.

Financial Inclusion

Breaking down the knowledge barriers that leave banking and finance teams under-prepared for the decisions they make. Through training and practice, every officer across the institutional spectrum learns to read a case to one consistent, defensible standard.

AI Innovation

A senior credit mind, always on beside every professional. It appraises, role-plays, and explains on the work in front of them, so judgement gets sharper where the decisions are actually made.

Layered Security

Your data is encrypted, in transit and at rest, and walled off so one organisation's data is never visible to another. Built for Tanzania's data-protection and banking rules, expanding across East Africa. Our data-protection page shows exactly how.

Local Context

Built for Tanzania, expanding across East Africa. Bilingual Swahili and English, local benchmarks, and a deep understanding of regional banking and finance practice.

Put a senior credit mind beside your team

Whether you are a commercial, development, or cooperative bank, a microfinance institution, a SACCO, a VICOBA, a central bank or financial regulator, a development finance institution, or a consulting and advisory firm, LitFin gives your whole team the same senior mind, on every case, with training built in.
